Lifelike Watercolour Pet Portraits

Since having my boys I've wanted to capture them in their little moments together, but photos never really get what I'm feeling, there's always one pulling a funny face or a dirty coffee cup left in the background. That's why I love painting them instead, I get to turn all that love and happiness I feel for them into a little conjuring. Romanticise the reality a little. Capture a phase of our life when the people I love so much are growing at such a rapid rate.

A Family Imagining

To create the best painting for you, high quality photos and videos are really helpful. Without these my job is harder and the painting will be much less accurate. The best way is to take the little one’s for a walk and just video them walking along, playing - picking up sticks. If you can, crouch down and take the video from children’s height. It makes for a much better painting. The rest leave up to me, I can change clothes add in their favourite teddy - anything you like.

Painted on a beautifully textured cotton rag paper, these watercolours are not meant to be highly realistic but more illustrative.

Painted directly from a photograph using watercolour on high quality cold pressed watercolour paper.

A more lifelike painting on finer whiter paper than my family illustrations. I work really hard using a pencil grid to accurately capture the likeness, I love bringing these fury beauties to life on paper. I only want to create the best possible painting for you so I will only work with high quality photos. Please bare this in mind when you’re thinking of commissioning.
